An Elk City man was arrested and charged with kidnapping recently after allegedly taking his ex-girlfriend against her will.

He claims he did it to protect her, but the woman tells authorities he did so against her will.

According to a probable cause affidavit, 22-year-old Logan Fletcher was arrested on the afternoon of June 10 in rural Beckham County after the Beckham County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a possible domestic incident taking place at a home in Sayre. The reporting party was able to provide authorities with the suspect’s name, the possible victim’s name, and a description of the vehicle. When deputies arrived they did not find anyone at the residence, however the front door had allegedly been kicked in.

After issuing a “be on the look out” for the suspect, an agent with the Department of Agriculture notified authorities that he had spotted the vehicle on a county road in Beckham County. With the assistance from the Sayre Police Department, the vehicle was pulled over where both Fletcher and the woman were found in the truck.

When talking with the victim, she stated to authorities that her along with Fletcher were at a nearby creek to meet up with friends. She said Fletcher had allegedly threw her over his shoulder and put her in the vehicle, and that she had told Fletcher to stop multiple times.

While talking with the suspect, Fletcher claimed that he took the woman away from the other people at the creek in order to protect her.

Fletcher was booked into the Beckham County Jail and received one felony count of kidnapping. His bond was set at $100,000.
