Oklahoma’s latest COVID-19 numbers were updated today by the State Department of Health and based on the department’s color-coded risk level map, one county in the area has been elevated from “green” to “yellow” based on the amount of active cases.

Health officials say Beckham County has now been elevated to “yellow” after the latest report shows that the county has three active cases, two in Sayre and one in Elk City.

Officials say counties in the “yellow” category have 1.43 to 14.29 cases per 100,000 people who populate the county.

The trade off? Other area counties have seen their numbers improve when compared to last week. Custer County saw it’s case count drop by four, now with only one active case in Weatherford.

Both Roger Mills and Washita counties have no active cases.

Custer, Roger Mills and Washita counties are all classified as “green” counties according to health officials. Counties in the “green” category have less than 1.43 cases per 100,000 of the population.

Hospitalizations in the region remains very low as well. Region 1, which consists of Beckham, Custer, Roger Mills, and Washita Counties, shows to have nobody hospitalized due to COVID-19. Region 3, which consists of Greer and Kiowa Counties shows to have seven hospitalizations with three in intensive care. Region 3 also consists of Comanche County and the City of Lawton.

Statewide, Oklahoma has 1,192 active cases of the virus with 122 hospitalizations. Of those hospitalizations, 43 are in ICU.
