A Canute man was hospitalized Tuesday after being involved in a two vehicle collision west of Elk City in Beckham County.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol’s collision report, the accident occurred at the intersection of the Interstate 40 Business road and State Highway 34, 2 miles west of Elk City, when while heading northbound in a 2020 Chevrolet Colorado on OK-34, 25-year-old Ty Cloud of Canute failed to yield at the stop sign at the intersection and pulled out in front of a 2017 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by 28-year-old Kaci Parks of Elk City. The Tahoe would strike the Colorado on the driver’s side.

Parks was transported by Elk City EMS to Great Plains Regional Medical Center where she was treated for head, trunk internal and leg injuries. She was released a short time later.

However, Cloud was also transmitted to the same hospital and admitted with trunk external, trunk internal, arm and leg injuries. He was last listed to be in stable condition.

OHP says both drivers were wearing seat belts at the time of the mishap.
