A Weatherford woman wanted in Oklahoma County on a felony charge, led local authorities on a pursuit through three Custer County communities recently.

The woman would eventually be arrested in Arapaho but not before driving through residential yards and hitting a Custer County Deputy’s patrol unit.

According to a probable cause affidavit, a deputy with the Custer County Sheriff’s Department attempted to pull over 46-year-old Danielle Chounet Beard on the west side of Weatherford after observing that the subject failed to maintain a lane. After the deputy initiated a traffic stop, the subject refused to pull over, and would enter westbound Interstate 40. Court records would show that the speeds would reach 82 miles per hour, before the subject would exit at Clinton, navigate through a construction zone, and turn north on U.S. Highway 182. Between Clinton and Arapaho, authorities reported that the subject would increase her speed to 75 miles per hour.

When the pursuit reached Arapaho, the subject allegedly would drive through multiple yards on private property, and eventually hit another deputy’s patrol car before coming to a stop.

After exiting the car, Beard was held at gunpoint and ordered to the ground – which she did – before being arrested.

A search of the vehicle would turn up several empty beer cans, a nearly empty vodka bottle, and unopened beer cans.

A passenger in the vehicle would tell authorities that the two had left a family function where drinking was taking place. He stated he was unaware of the ongoing pursuit because he was asleep in the car during the incident.

Beard was charged with one count of endangering others while eluding police, and driving while under the influence of alcohol.

Along with the Custer County Sheriff’s Department, officers from the Clinton and Weatherford Police Department’s assisted in the pursuit.
