While speaking with the Elk City Rotary Club, new Elk City Fire Chief Kyle Chervenka unveiled the newly purchased ambulance that will be used by the Elk City EMS.

The City purchased the ambulance with CARES Act funds that were obtained due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Chervenka says the new piece of equipment was vital for the area due to the high use of ambulance service over the past year.

Chervenka says total cost of the ambulance came in at $279,000.

Chervenka says the next major purchase the department is looking at making is replacing a 30-year-old fire engine in the near future.

In other fire department news, it was also revealed that the department’s ISO rating, or Insurance Services Office rating, improved from a class 3 rating to a class 2. The new rating could assist commercial property in the department’s service area with lower insurance premiums.

That new rating will go into affect on August 1.
