A Foss teen is in critical condition after wrecking his motorcycle on Foss Lake Dam in Custer County.

According to the collision report provided by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the incident took place Friday night just before 6:30 when the 16-year-old boy was riding a 2006 Suzuiki DR650 motorcycle northbound on State Highway 44 when he failed to negotiated a slight curve to the left. This caused the motorcycle to depart the roadway to the right, strike the guard rail, and throw the teen from the motorcycle. The boy landed on the east side of the dam.

The teenager was flown to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City where he was admitted for whole body injuries. He was last listed to be in critical condition.

In other traffic news from over the weekend, eastbound Interstate 40 was shut down between Clinton and Weatherford for nearly 8 hours Sunday afternoon after a rollover accident involving a commercial vehicle near the 77 mile marker.

OHP says the incident occurred just after 2:00 p.m. and saw traffic diverted off the interstate at exit 71. Both eastbound lanes were eventually reopened just after 10:00 p.m.

OHP has not released an accident report regarding the mishap – which usually means it was a non-injury incident.
