The Board of Directors of the Red Carpet Community Theatre in Elk City has voted to re-open the theatre with a “Re-Start the Arts” Variety Show that will feature area talent.

In a press release from the board, the show will open on June 5 with auditions being held Monday and Tuesday at 6 p.m. on both nights at the theatre located at 422 N. Jefferson in Elk City.

All ages, from all communities are welcome to audition.

Director Ashley Arganbright encourages all to be prepared with the audition piece that will be performed at the show, unless other requests are made.

The board says there will be free admission, but donations will be taken at the door. The theatre has been dark due to the pandemic however expenses have continued. To bring back productions, there is need to reclaim funds that have been expended over the past year. There have been two grants awarded from the Oklahoma Arts Council that helped support cleaning the building as well as providing funds to pay regular ongoing bills, but beginning a new season of shows brings extra costs.

The press release said the board is currently considering what productions will be cost effective and most enjoyable for audiences. There are more activities and events to come, and input or suggestions are encouraged by the board.
