Elk City Woman Accused of Breaking into Clinton Motel

An Elk City woman was arrested in Clinton recently after allegedly breaking into the Glancy Motel.

According to court records 30-year-old Carol Elaine Mitchell is accused of breaking into the motel on April 22. While being arrested she would provide Clinton police with a false names on, claiming she was Carol Standingwater. The suspect was also found to be in possession of a forged check belonging to the motel’s owner – made out to another company in the amount of $25,000. Mitchell is also accused of cashing a forged check worth $200 at a local bank, and passing a forged check at a Clinton store for $55.

In all, Mitchell received six charges in Custer County District Court including second degree burglary, obstruction, falsely personate another to create liability, possession of a forged instrument – a felony, and two misdemeanor counts of uttering a forged instrument.

An attorney date for Mitchell has been scheduled for May 19, a preliminary hearing has been scheduled for May 28.
