A Shamrock, Texas man was hospitalized Sunday night after being involved in a two car accident on Interstate 40 in western Beckham County.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol the condition of the driver was labeled as “odor of alcohol”.

In a collision report issued by the OHP, 36-year-old Joshua Alvey was westbound in a 2002 Ford F-350 Supercab, when the truck entered into a lane occupied by a semi. This caused the truck to hit the semi, lose control, and exit the roadway to the right. The truck would then strike a traffic sign and roll two times before coming to rest on its wheels. During the mishap, Alvey was ejected approximately 15 feet.

OHP says the semi left the scene before authorities arrived.

Alvey was air lifted to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City where he was admitted with trunk internal and head injuries. He was last listed to be in critical condition.

OHP lists the cause of the collision to be “ability impaired by use of alcohol”.
