An investigation is ongoing as to why an Arizona woman led multiple agencies on a high speed pursuit on eastbound Interstate 40 early Sunday morning.

According to Beckham County Sheriff Derek Manning, the woman was clocked going at least 100 mph in western Beckham County – where the pursuit originated. Eventually a deputy would perform a tactical vehicle intervention to disable the vehicle in the interstate’s median, near mile marker 42. Manning says while arresting the woman, she would constantly try to reach for something in the car. It was discovered that there were three young children in the car, one as young as 12 months.

All three were uninjured in the incident, and were released to the Department of Human Services.

The woman, whose name has not released at this time, was arrested on a felony complaint of eluding police, and child endangerment.

Charges are pending, and are expected to be filed this week.

Manning says assisting in the pursuit and arrest were the Elk City Police Department and the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife.
