The Elk City Commission approved recently a bid to replace a collapsed sewer line.

City Manager Tom Ivester says the deteriorating line was actually discovered during the repair job of another sewer line last fall.

It was indicated that the majority of the cost, which is just over $41,000 will be paid for with surplus monies leftover from a prior approved purchase.

Hutton Incorporated was awarded the bid.

In other purchase news, the Commission also awarded a bid to Crystal Creek, LLC for asbestos removal at the city-owned “Snips” building located in downtown Elk City. Ivester says after the needed removal of the asbestos, the Commission will re-examine the buildings future.
