A man being held in the Beckham County Jail awaiting trial for a first degree murder – child abuse charge has had a second felony charge levied against him after assaulting a fellow inmate.

According to a probable cause affidavit, 25-year-old Troy Justice Jones of Elk City – who received the murder charge in January, along with his cellmate, 22-year-old Eric Cameron Davies also of Elk City had allegedly cornered a third cellmate and beat the man for approximately 10 to 15 minutes on March 8.

When a detention deputy found the victim, it was reported that his face was covered with blood. The nearby wall and floor were covered with blood as well.

The victim was removed from the jail and taken to Great Plains Regional Medical Center in Elk City for treatment. While at the hospital the victim wrote in a voluntary statement that both Jones and Davies had cornered him and accused him of being a “snitch” before the alleged attack took place. He would also state that he wished to press charges against the two men.

It was also noted in the court document that the three individuals were locked down in the cell that they shared while the incident took place.

Both Jones and Davies were formally charged with aggravated assault and battery on March 19.
