Acting as the utilities authority, the Cordell City Council has approved to pursue funds that would go towards improving the city’s infrastructure.

City Manager J.C. Moser says during Monday night’s meeting, the council received a presentation from Myers Engineering regarding the water improvement plan for the city. He says the city is currently working on the disinfecting process the city uses on their water that is taken from the city’s nearby well-field.

Moser says that application process for the construction permit is still ongoing.

He also says originally it was the council’s plan to decommission the downtown water tower, however after the recent winter weather that saw unusual frigid temperatures stress the city’s water system, the council has decided to pursue funds to, among other things, refurbish the water tower and keep it in use.

Moser says all water issues that were caused by the extreme cold weather have been addressed and fixed.
