Freight Truck Accident Sends Burns Flat Man to OKC Hospital

A Burns Flat man is in an Oklahoma City hospital after the pickup he was driving was struck by a freight truck in Washita County.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at 5:24 Wednesday afternoon at the intersection of county roads 1120 and 2110, three miles south and three miles east of Canute. The report stated that 43-year-old Jy Brown of Burns Flat was driving his 2005 Chevrolet pickup eastbound on county road 1120 when he was struck on the driver’s side of his truck at the intersection of 1120 and 2110 by a 2015 freight truck driven by 39-year-old Denny Wesley of Del City.

Brown was pinned in his vehicle for 20 minutes before being extricated by the Elk City Fire Department.

As a result of the crash, Brown was transported to nearby Canute by Elk City EMS where he was loaded onto a helicopter and flown to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. There he was admitted with trunk internal injuries – last listed to be in stable condition.

Wesley was uninjured in the mishap.
