It was announced recently that the Board of Trustees of Northfork Electric Cooperative have found a successor to replace their retiring general manager.

In a press release it was announced that after a three-month search, Brent Meador will replace Scott Copeland who is retiring after nearly 29 years at the co-op.

Co-op officials said extensive investigations into the experience of potential candidates were held, but after three rounds of interviews it was ultimately Meador’s qualifications that led to his hiring. He is no stranger to NFEC, having served on the Board of Trustees for four years before resigning that position and taking the helm as General Manager/Chief Financial Officer.

Meador comes to the co-op after serving almost 20 years as a lender at First National Bank & Trust of Elk City, most recently serving as the Executive Vice President-Senior Lender since 2014. Meador and his wife, Kassie, are the owners of Meador Angus Farms in Elk City where they manage a pure-bred Angus herd.

Meador received a B.S. in Business Management at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in May 2000 before entering the banking industry that September.

Meador will be the co-op’s eighth General Manager since the lights first came on in 1939.

He has been very involved in the community having been a member of the Elk City Kiwanis Club and the Elk City Chamber of Commerce for over 20 years. Currently serving as president, he has been a member of the Elk City Education Foundation since 2010. Meador is also the Vice Chairman of the Beckham County Excise Board, where he has served for five years.

Meador’s first day at the co-op is February 1.
