After the announcement from Elk City Superintendent Rick Garrison of his intention to retire, now comes the task by the Elk City School Board to find his successor.

Fortunately for School Board President Brandon Storm, this isn’t the first time he’s had to lead a search for the right person to fill the position.

Storm was a part of the school board that hired Garrison after former superintendent Buddy Wood retired in 2016. Storm says the search process has basically already begun, as interested applicants have already started to submit resumes and show interest in the job, but says there is a process the board will take in making the hire.

Storm says thanks to not only Garrison, but past superintendents, the job has become an attractive one for any potential candidate.

Storm says Superintendent Rick Garrison will formally announce his retirement during Monday night’s school board meeting. From there the board will form a search committee.

Storm also said that the Oklahoma State School Board Association offers services to help with the search process that the district could utilize if needed.
