A warrant for the arrest of an Elk City man was issued recently after receiving a felony charge of domestic assault and battery by strangulation.

According to a probable cause affidavit, 38-year-old Daniel Joseph Castro is accused of committing the crime last month when a woman reported to police that the couple had gotten into a verbal argument that had turned physical. The woman claimed that the suspect threw her to the ground in a bedroom and began to choke her with both hands.

Police noted in the court document that the woman had physical injuries that included bruising and scratch marks around both sides of her neck, scratches on her left arm, and a bloody lip.

After obtaining a search warrant, police were able to gain entrance to the home that the couple shared and would arrest Castro without incident. Police would later learn that Castro had a confirmed warrant out of Washita County.

Castro’s next court date is scheduled for December 7.
