After adjusting to virtual learning and in some cases an A / B schedule due to Covid-19, the Elk City School District was thrown a “curve ball” with the latest ice storm that saw school days dismissed for almost a week.

However, despite all the obstacles that have been presented, Elk City Superintendent Rick Garrison says he’s proud with how his teachers and staff have responded.

During the latest meeting of the Elk City School Board, the board did approved revisions to the 2020 – 2021 school year calendar, but Garrison noted that this is a common agenda item during this time of the year.

Garrison went on to say that the A / B schedule is something he would hope to avoid in the future.

Garrison says once Elk City returned to a normal, full class schedule, fellow superintendents from other school districts have reached out to him for advice on how to achieve that accomplishment.

Elk City returned to a normal class schedule on Monday.
