Charges against a Ft. Worth, Texas man have been filed in Custer County District Court after allegedly attempting to rob another man in a Weatherford apartment.

19-year-old Kingsley Ehigie Ehiemua, a member of the Southwestern Oklahoma State University Football team, was arrested last week by Weatherford police after he allegedly attempted the robbery at an apartment located in the 100 block of East University Drive – which is located north of the SWOSU campus. According to a probable cause affidavit, Eheiuma had shot the victim during the incident on October 27, however was shot by the victim in self defense.

The court document stated that the defendant would retreat to a friend’s apartment where they attempted to treat the wounds, and stop the bleeding. They ultimately decided to take Ehiemua to the hospital, however police would arrive in time to stop their vehicle and asses the situation.

Both the defendant and the victim were transported to Weatherford Regional Hospital before being transported to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City to be treated for their wounds – which turned out to be minor and survivable.

The affidavit stated that once Ehiemua was released from the hospital, he was arrested and booked into the Custer County Jail. He was charged with first degree robbery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and conspiracy.

An attorney date for Ehiemua is scheduled for November 18. A preliminary hearing conference is scheduled for December 11.
