Weekend accidents in the area sent two to the hospital.

The first occurred Friday night in western Caddo County when the 2019 Nissan Sentra driven by 19-year-old Kiera B. Wishon of Anadarako crossed left of center into south bound traffic two miles north of Eakly on State Highway 58. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol reported that this caused an oncoming 2007 Peterbuilt semi truck driven by 64-year-old Terry W. Lierle of Hydro attempt to avoid the Wishon vehicle, however Wishon struck the truck causing it to depart the road to the right. The semi truck reportedly caught fire before departing the road to the left.

Wishon was flown from the crash site to OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City and admitted in fair condition with leg injuries.

Lierle was not injured in the mishap.

Another injury accident occurred on U.S. Highway 283, three miles north of Altus late Saturday evening.

According to the OHP, 66-year-old Beatrice Wyatt of Mangum was the passenger in the 1993 Chevrolet Lumina that was traveling south bound on the highway when a 2012 Ford Mustang struck the vehicle from behind. This caused the Lumina to depart the road to the right and rolling one time before coming to a rest on its wheels. Wyatt was pinned inside the vehicle for 45 minutes before being extracted by the Altus Fire Department. Wyatt was transported to the Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus, and admitted in fair condition with head injuries.

Both the driver of the Lumina, and the driver of the Mustang along with a passenger were not injured in the crash.
