The official filing period for the mayor and city council seats in the City of Clinton concluded Wednesday at 5 p.m.

One race has developed for the city’s highest position. Mayor David Berrong has filed for re-election and will be challenged by former city councilman Mustafa Sami and Paul Brown.

Ward 2 Councilman Ernie Dowdell will retain his seat after not drawing an opponent and newcomer Art Lloyd filed for the Ward 4 position and will automatically win the seat after no other individual had filed before the deadline. He is set to be sworn in on November 17.

The election date for the mayoral race in Clinton will take place on November 3.
