During the regular meeting of the Elk City Commissioners Wednesday afternoon, the commission heard good news regarding sales tax numbers.

According to City Treasurer Lisa Church, the figures show that once again, sales tax revenue is above the $1 million mark.

City financial consultant Meredith Meacham Wilson with RS Meacham CPAs says a reason why sales tax is trending high is due to the fact that the city had anticipated to take a hit with those numbers.

Meacham also told the commission that the city saw a $205,000 net profit in one month from the public works authority, but noted that due to the city’s continuing effort of improving the infrastructure, that profit could slowly diminish in the coming months.
