The Elk City Commission met in special session Thursday afternoon to, among other things, appoint an acting interim city manager. After an executive session that lasted for nearly an hour, ward three commissioner Larry Muck made a motion to begin negotiations with Elk City lawyer and former state senator, Tom Ivester.

Mayor Nick Archer says Ivester, who was not present at the meeting, still has to accept the position.

Also during the emergency proceedings, the commission chose to table action that would initiate a process to employ a new city manager.
