The state’s active cases of COVID-19 are creeping back up to the 1,000 mark once again.

According to the Oklahoma State Department of Health’s daily report there are currently 937 active cases of COVID-19 in the state, an increase of 94 active cases when compared to Monday’s numbers.

However hospitalization numbers dropped in the state to 148. That’s a decrease of 10 when compared to Monday’s report. Unfortunately there were 5 additional deaths, none of which occurring in the past 24 hours. The state’s death count is now at 353.

Locally Custer County and Jackson County gained an additional case a piece. Custer County now has 16 active cases, 11 of those cases are in Weatherford. Jackson County now has four active cases – all in Altus. Kiowa County has two active cases in Mountain View, while Beckham has one active case in Sayre, and Washita County still has one active case in the Town of Foss.

For most people, the coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms that clear up within weeks. But for others, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, the highly contagious virus can cause severe symptoms and be fatal. The vast majority of people recover.
