I-40 Accident: Amarillo Man Dies in Mishap

A one vehicle accident in Beckham County Saturday afternoon took the life of an Amarillo, Texas man.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the accident occurred just after noon on Saturday in the eastbound lanes of I-40 near Erick when the 1997 Ford Ranger driven by 31-year-old David Raymond Denny of Amarillo blew out its passenger rear tire, causing the driver to lose control and rolling the pickup.

The passenger, 67-year-old Jerry Keith Mabry also from Amarillo, was ejected during the accident.

The driver was uninjured and refused treatment at the scene, however the passenger was transported to Great Plains Regional Medical Center in Elk City where he was pronounced deceased due to head and leg injuries.
