A seat belt infraction led to the discovery of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia.

According to a probable cause affidavit, 37-year-old Kanema Elizabeth Hill of Sweetwater was pulled over by an Oklahoma Highway Patrolman in Erick after he observed Hill not wearing a seat belt and the windshield of her vehicle appeared to be broken.

The patrolman noted that Hill was unable to sit still in his patrol car, and that her speech was hard to understand. The report stated that the patrolman had Hill exit the car in order to perform various field sobriety tests. While performing the tests, the patrolman noted what appeared to be contraband stuffed in the front of Hill’s pants. When asked about the suspected contraband, Hill would pull out a plastic container containing marijuana and would tell the patrolman that she had a pipe in her bra.

Hill was transported to a local hospital for a blood test before being transported to the Beckham County Jail.

She was charged last week with driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of drugs, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

Hill’s next court date is scheduled to take place September 28.
