The National Route 66 Museum in Elk City will see some minor improvements thanks to awarded grant dollars.

City Treasurer and grant writer Lisa Church says the city was recently awarded $7,500 from the Midwestern Oklahoma Development Authority. Church describes how the funds will be used at the museum.

Church went on to say that the city actually applied for $11,500 but only received the $7,500. She said that she suspects that most grants to other municipalities saw a reduction in what was awarded as well.

In other city news: it was announced that dirt work for the Activity Center in Ackley Park West has begun. City officials say a construction fence has been installed which is obstructing a portion of the walking trail. However, officials say the majority of the trail will not be affected.
