The burn tower located on the campus of Western Technology Center in Elk City was renamed and dedicated Friday to former WTC Superintendent Hoyt Lewis.

Western Technology Center Business Director and Elk City Campus Director Danny Britton says it was Lewis’ vision to have the tower erected in Elk City to not only provide a place to train emergency personal in Western Oklahoma, but also emergency personal from all over the state.

Britton says because of Lewis’ persistence to provide Elk City with the WTC campus and the burn tower, hundreds of fire departments have utilized the facility in its short time of existence.

After many years in education, Lewis retired at the end of the spring semester.
