While the state continues to see COVID-19 numbers rise, hospitalizations and the daily death rate remains at a very low number.

Infections in Western Oklahoma are very manageable as well, however numbers did rise slightly over the weekend. According to the Oklahoma State Department of Health, Jackson County and Beckham County saw active cases increase. Jackson County currently has two active cases, that’s up two when compared to Sunday. Beckham County saw an extra case of the virus pop up bringing the county’s total number of active case to two. Both of those cases are in Elk City.

Good news for two area counties over the weekend. Kiowa and Washita Counties both saw an individual recover from COVID-19. Currently both counties have one active case each.

Custer County has 11 active cases. The City of Clinton has seven of the cases. Greer County still has two active cases.

Statewide, Oklahoma has 2,716 active cases of COVID-19, an increase of 101 active cases when compared to Sunday. There were no additional deaths reported. The state’s death count is currently at 369.

Oklahoma has 197 hospitalizations due to the virus. A very low number considering the state has over 5,400 hospital beds.

For most people, the virus causes mild or moderate symptoms that clear up within weeks. But for others, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, the highly contagious virus can cause severe symptoms and be fatal.
