After a couple of low sales tax reports for the City of Elk City, it appears that during the regular meeting of the Elk City Commission on Wednesday the latest sales tax numbers for the city will be above $1 million for a second consecutive month.

City Treasurer Elisa Church revealed the news during the special meeting of the city commissioners last week, as the commission were considering to end employee furloughs.

The commission ultimately approved to cancel the furloughs.

Mayor Nick Archer says the current financial state for the city is very optimistic.

The Elk City Commission is scheduled to meet in regular session on Wednesday afternoon where it is suspected the official numbers will be released, along with the city’s use, and cigarette tax numbers.

Wednesday’s meeting in city hall is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
