After getting permission from Oklahoma Attorney General Mike Hunter, the Oklahoma State Department of Health has re-released more details of COVID-19 cases.

In particular, data involving cities and zip codes has been released and the numbers affecting Western Oklahoma are becoming more clear. The majority of active cases in Custer County appears to be in Weatherford. That city currently has 13 active cases of the virus. Thomas has two active cases. Clinton and Arapaho have one active case a piece.

In Jackson County, health officials are reporting 3 of the 4 active cases are located in Altus while the other is in nearby Blair.

Kiowa County’s two active cases reside in Mountain View, while Beckham County’s active case is in Sayre. The lone active case in Washita County is being reported out of Foss.

In their daily report, the department noted that due to technical difficulties, they were unable to provide updated COVID-19 numbers. It is unknown as to when updated numbers will be released.

State officials on Friday also released their weekly epidemiology report, showcasing COVID-19 data in the state and how it compares to prior weeks.

In the report, it stated that of those who have contracted the virus, 46% are persons aged 50 and over. 97% of those who have died due to COVID-19 are persons aged 50 and over.

It also showed there was an 8% increase of confirmed cases in the past week, and an 18.2% decrease of deaths when compared to last week.

The report also showed that of the 29,345 individuals tested for the virus, only 2.8% came back positive – a continued downward trajectory that dates back to early April. Overall Oklahoma has tested 218,010 individuals with 3.6% coming back positive.
