Coronavirus: OSDH Take Back Recovered Case In Washita Co.

Despite reporting on Wednesday that Washita County has had both of it’s COVID-19 cases recovered, in Thursday’s daily report Oklahoma State Department of Health officials now says that there is still one active case in the county.

However it is unknown what community that active case is in, even after yesterday’s announcement that the department has reversed course on its decision from earlier this week to no longer release COVID-19 infection data by city and zip code.

The agency made the move after consulting with Attorney General Mike Hunter, who advised them releasing epidemiological information for statistical purposes is legal as long as no individual person can be identified.

In Thursday’s report health officials say they plan to meet soon to discuss the legal parameters for which data sets the agency can resume reporting. It is unknown as to when that data will be released.

Oklahoma has 753 of active cases of COVID-19, an increase of 29 active case in the state when compared to Wednesday.

Locally Custer County gained another case while recovering one as well. Currently there are still 17 active cases in the county. Jackson County has 4 active cases, Kiowa County has 2, and Beckham County still has 1.

Oklahoma has had an additional 3 deaths due to COVID-19, 1 occurred in the past 24 hours, bringing the state’s total to 344.

Currently there are 148 Oklahomans hospitalized due to COVID-19. An increase of 12 when compared to Wednesday.
