Coronavirus: No Active Cases in Greer County

After weeks of battling a COVID-19 outbreak in Greer County, the Oklahoma State Department of Health is now reporting that the county has no active cases of the virus.

According to the state health department’s daily report, active cases in the state dropped dramatically as well. Health officials are reporting an additional 312 Oklahomans have recovered from the virus when compared to Tuesday, leaving the state with 772 active cases.

However another active case has popped up in Custer County. Health officials are reporting that the lone case is currently in Weatherford, who’s had 11 of the county’s 13 cumulative cases so far.

Jackson County still has 3 active cases, Kiowa County has 2, while Washita County has 1 active case.

Harmon and Roger Mills Counties are still without a reported case of COVID-19.

The number of hospitalized has dropped as well. Currently there are 156 Oklahomans hospitalized due to the virus. That number is down 18 when compared to Tuesday.

There are 4 more deaths due to the virus being reported by state health officials, however none occurring in the past 24 hours. There have been 322 deaths due to COVID-19 in Oklahoma.

For most people, the coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks. For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia, and death.
