All summer classes at Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford and Sayre will be online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

SWOSU President Randy Beutler sent a letter to students, faculty and staff on Tuesday, announcing that all summer courses are being moved to the virtual format.

However, the letter did indicate that university officials may authorize some in-person clinical experiences and internships for the summer. That decision will be made by May 15.

All spring courses were moved online last month as COVID-19 started rapidly spreading across Oklahoma.

The letter also stated that since May graduation was postponed, the university has made the decision to hold live ceremonies on Saturday, December 12, at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center in Weatherford. More details will be announced on a later date.

The letter concluded by saying SWOSU personnel are frequently providing updated information related to the pandemic on the university’s website at swosu.edu.
