Coronavirus: Greer County Reporting Death

A death in Western Oklahoma due to COVID-19 has been confirmed by the Oklahoma State Health Department.

The death is being reported out of Greer County where 2 cases of the virus were reported as well.

According to the Mangum Star, Mayor Mary Jane Scott said that two people who have tested positive for the virus, are a man and a woman. The woman was at the Mangum Regional Medical Center but the man’s whereabouts was not disclosed.

Jackson County is also reporting an additional case, bringing the county’s number up to 2.

No change in the number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Beckham County, which remains at 1, and Custer County – still at 4.

With the confirmed case in Beckham County being announced Monday, the county has had to follow the order by Governor Kevin Stitt to shut down businesses like bars, gyms, hair salons, movie theaters and massage and tattoo parlors until April 16. Elk City Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Julie Lenius says there is a website that you can go to, to find out which businesses are open, and which ones are not.

Oklahoma currently has 719 confirmed positive cases of COVID-19, an increase of 154 when compared to Tuesday’s numbers. The state has 30 deaths associated with the virus, up from 7 when compared to yesterday. 48 of the states 77 counties are reporting positive cases of COVID-19.
