Coronavirus: Confirmed Case In Beckham County

The latest numbers from the Oklahoma State Department of Health has confirmed that there is a positive case of COVID-19 in Beckham County.

With the confirmed case, Beckham County, along with the other 46 counties in the state with confirmed cases, have been ordered by Governor Kevin Stitt to shut down businesses like bars, gyms, hair salons, movie theaters and massage and tattoo parlors until April 16.

In a statement released by the Great Plains Regional Medical Center in Elk City, the Oklahoma State Department of Health notified the hospital of the confirmed case of in Beckham County. The individual resides in Beckham County, but was not tested or treated by Great Plains Regional Medical Center. Under the direction of The Oklahoma State Department of Health this individual was immediately placed in self-isolation and appropriate protocols have been implemented in accordance with the OSDH and the Centers for Disease Control. Lastly, the OSDH is coordinating all aspects of care for this particular individual. The hospital also reminds the public that this case was not unexpected.

Over the weekend Custer County had an additional case reported, bringing the county’s number of confirmed cases to 4, while one case has been confirmed in Texas County in the panhandle.

Overall the state has 481 confirmed cases, an increase of 52 when compared to yesterday and one more death, bringing the total to 17.
