After nearly a week with only one confirmed case of COVID-19 in the greater Western Oklahoma area, the Oklahoma Health Department has announced that two additional cases have been reported in Custer County, bringing the total of positive cases in the county to three.

As of 11:30 a.m. Wednesday morning there have been no cases reported in other area counties including Beckham, Washita, Roger Mills, and Dewey Counties.

Jackson County is still reporting only 1 confirmed case.

The newly reported cases in Custer County comes on the heels of Governor Kevin Stitt’s announcement yesterday ordering non-essential businesses to shut down and directed elderly and medically vulnerable people to stay indoors until April 30. Stitt ordered businesses like bars, gyms, hair salons, movie theaters and massage and tattoo parlors to shut down for 21 days in all 27 counties, including Custer County, where positive tests have been confirmed and said the order would expand to other counties when cases are detected. Restaurants in those counties can serve take-out food, but not have diners inside. He said his order would also prohibit groups of 10 people or more from gathering anywhere in the state.

In total, Oklahoma has 164 positive cases of COVID-19, with 5 deaths.
