The Oklahoma Department of Corrections has lifted a lockdown at all but six prisons following what is called a “disturbance” among inmates at one facility.
The DOC said Friday the lockdown with no visitation continues at, among others, the North Fork Correctional Center.
The lockdown was ordered last week and eventually included all prisons after the disturbance among about a half dozen inmates at Mack Alford in Stringtown, about 105 miles southeast of Oklahoma City.
The DOC has said little about the disturbance, other than it is under investigation, and that there were no serious injuries.
The system-wide lockdown was ordered after investigators learned of more potential violence at other state prisons, according to DOC spokesman Matt Elliott.
All state prisons were locked down in September after after an outbreak of apparent gang-related violence left one inmate dead and more than a dozen injured.
