The Fort Supply man who was hit by a train in Woodward county last week has died.

According to a report from the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, 40-year-old Christopher James Chance passed away Saturday night from injuries he sustained after being hit by a train near Woodward.

OHP reported that Chance was laying parallel on the side of the tracks last Thursday afternoon when, for an unknown reason, had placed his arm on top of one of the tracks. An approaching train was unable to stop in time, and wound up running over the man’s arm, pulling him into the path of the train.

Chance was flown to an Oklahoma City hospital where at the time he was admitted in critical condition with what was described as “whole body injuries”.

As to why the man was laying near the tracks, and his condition before the accident, is still under investigation.
