A Sayre man was arrested recently and faces a felony domestic assault and battery by strangulation charge after he allegedly attacked his ex-girlfriend.

According to a probable cause affidavit police were dispatched to a home in the 600 block of West 9th in Elk City on February 12th to a possible domestic abuse incident. When the officer arrived he talked to the home owner who claimed that 28-year-old Juan Antonio Calderon-Alvarez, her ex-boyfriend, had been at the home to drop off some items that belonged to her. She claims that the two got into an argument that turned physical. She says that the defendant grabbed her, locked the door to the home and did not let her leave. The affidavit stated that he then allegedly slammed her on the kitchen floor where she would kick him in the groin to get him off of her. She told police that after she got up, the defendant slammed her on the floor again and put his hands around her neck and squeezed. The affidavit stated that he would later leave, and yell “you’re dead as soon as I leave”.

Calderon-Alvarez was located the next day in Sayre and arrested. He was charged in Beckham County District Court with domestic assault and battery by strangulation, and kidnapping.
