Area City Councils Set To Meet This Week

Four city council and city commissioners meetings are scheduled this week throughout the area.

Tonight (Tuesday) three of the four will take place. In Clinton at 5:30 p.m. the Clinton City Council will have what looks like to be a short meeting, however one agenda item may take up some time. The council will consider, discuss and take action on removal of condemnation designation from 217 Gary Boulavard – The Glancy Hotel. Last month the city council along with with the owners of the motel had come to an agreement to extend talks about possibly avoiding condemning the property.

In Sayre at 6:00 p.m. after a public hearing, the Sayre City Council will consider and approve or disapprove a recommendation from the planning and zoning board for a specific use permit for property located in the 900 block of East Main for a medical marijuana grow-operation. The council will also consider and approve or disapprove a recommendation from the planning and zoning board a specific use permit for property located in the 300 block of West Main for a medical marijuana dispensary.

The Cordell City Council is also scheduled to meet in regular session tonight at 6:00 p.m. where they will consider, discuss and possibly take action to approve a resolution authorizing and directing the mayor to submit an application for financial assistance under the assistance to firefighters grant program for the acquisition of a 3,000 gallon pumper-tanker truck. If acquired, FEMA will fund 95% of the price tag with the city obligated to pay the remaining 5%.

The Elk City, City Commission is scheduled to meet tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 p.m.
