Elk City Commission Meets – Approves Purchases

Background checks and finger print processing is about to get a whole lot easier in Elk City.

During the recent Elk City Commissioners meeting, the commission approved the purchase of an electronic 10 fingerprint and palm live scan device from iTouch Biometrics for the Elk City Police Department. Captain Kennie Shirey says the device will transfer fingerprint readings instantly to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation and the FBI.

The approved purchase came with a $22,000 price tag, however the police department along with the city had budgeted for the purchase.

In other business the commission approved the a bid received from Frontier Bridge, Incorporated for material and labor for the frabrication and installation of the proposed oil derrick monuments that will be installed at the I-40 / State Highway 6 bridge project. City Manager Lee Litterell says the approved amount of $169,280 is under the amount that the city had budgeted for.

Litterell added that the project appears to be on scheduled.
