Distracted Driving In Washita County

An Elgin woman was hospitalized yesterday after wrecking her vehicle in Washita County.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, 20-year-old Jordan Russell was admitted to an Oklahoma City hospital with trunk internal injuries after she lost control of her 1994 Chevy Cavalier on State Highway 54, 2 miles north of the State Highway 152 junction. According to the report Russell became distracted, departed the roadway to the right for approximately 92 feet, reentered the roadway, then departed the roadway to the left for approximately 87 feet before hitting a tree.

OHP says Russell was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the mishap. Russell was initially taken to Weatherford Regional Hospital before being transferred to Oklahoma City. She was last listed to be in stable condition.
