An early morning Christmas Eve pursuit that originated in Weatherford has recovered stolen firearms, landed one in jail, however the driver is still at large.

According to the Weatherford Police Department, officers conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Indiana and Main for a minor traffic violation early Tuesday morning. The vehicle, which was later determined to be stolen from Oklahoma City, pulled over with the driver initially being compliant but then drove away as officers attempted to talk to him. A pursuit ensued through city streets then east bound on Interstate 40. Officers with the Hinton Police Department deployed stop sticks at the 101 mile marker, which deflated both driver side tires. The vehicle eventually came to a stop in the center median around the 103 mile marker.

According to the report, the driver and passenger both ran on foot from the vehicle and with the help of the Canadian County Sheriff’s Office, Weatherford police were able to arrest the passenger identified as Brittany Kaye Wolf of Wewoka, however the driver was able to get away.

After searching the vehicle, officers found a stolen rifle and a stolen pistol.
