The Sayre City Council met last night and approved the final steps to allow medical marijuana grow houses and dispensaries in city limits, and to receive sales tax dollars from the businesses.

City manager Guy Hylton says the action item actually failed during their November meeting, saying that it needed adjusted wording in order to be considered again.

Hylton also said the city council passed a resolution regarding permit fees for marijuana businesses located in the city.

Hylton says he’s not sure what kind of financial impact this could have for the city. He did note that only dispensaries pay the city sales tax, while grow houses do not because they are a wholesale market.
