An Erick woman was arrested recently after allegedly assaulting a man in his home.

According to a probable cause affidavit, on the night of November 2nd, Beckham County Sheriff’s Department deputies were dispatched to a home in Erick regrading a possible domestic disturbance in progress between 33-year-old Stephanie Michelle Garza and another man.

The affidavit stated that once deputies arrived they could hear screaming coming from inside the home. Once deputies gained entrance to the home, the screaming continued. This time deputies were able to determine that Garza was screaming at the man. The court document stated that the deputy noticed that the man had blood and a swelled knot on his left arm. Other injuries noted in the report included scratches on his chest, arms, eye and back, along with his left side of his back being red from what appeared to be marks where he had been struck. It stated the he was also red in the lower neck and upper chest area.

The affidavit stated that the deputy also noted that Garza did not appear to have any injuries. Deputies also noted that they could smell an intoxicating substance on both parties.

Garza was arrested and booked into the Beckham County Detention Center and charged with domestic abuse – assault and battery.

She is scheduled to appear in court for a conference hearing on Monday (December 16th).
