Traffic Stop Finds Drugs – Guns

A traffic stop in Clinton turns up drugs, guns, and arrests.

According to court documents the incident took place Saturday night when during a traffic stop on the east side of Clinton, officers recovered over a pound of methamphetamine along with two handguns and a shotgun.

Upon further investigation officers also found five grams of marijuana in the vehicle along with cash seized that is believed to be proceeds from drug sales.

The driver of the vehicle, 23-year-old Sergio Martinez of Clinton, was arrested and charged with aggravated trafficking illegal drugs, use of a firearm while committing a felony, and possession of a controlled substance. 20-year old Jesus Villegas on Clinton was charged with aggravated trafficking illegal drugs, possession of a firearm after a former felony conviction, possession of a firearm with an altered I.D. during commission of a felony, and possession of a controlled substance. The third passenger, 21-year-old Kaylee Turtle of Clinton was charged with aggravated trafficking illegal drugs, use of a firearm while committing a felony, and possession of a controlled substance. Turtle also had outstanding warrants stemming from a different case.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Villegas on December 21st. Meanwhile Martinez and Turtle have a preliminary hearing scheduled for January 3rd.
