Following a power surge on Wednesday morning that knocked out services to internet and 911 emergency services impacting most of the state, a completely unrelated, four-hour, power outage again impacted the area affecting 4-thousand PSO customers.

According to Public Service Company of Oklahoma, the fairly wide-spread outage yesterday was caused by a faulted arrestor inside the Clinton substation.

PSO’s Community Affairs Manager, Mike Hixon, says the arrester failed about 3:20 pm cutting the power to the bigger part of Clinton, Arapaho, Foss, Dill City, Corn and Colony.

A power surge Wednesday morning about 8 am occurred when a major fiber line was cut, reportedly near El Reno that impacted the state-wide 911 system, though the disruption wasn’t throughout the state.

In both cases, no one was injured and all systems are back up and running at this time.

Hixon says the type of problem PSO had yesterday afternoon, is, basically, just one of those things.

Hixon says that many of the affected customers began getting power back on throughout the area in the afternoon, but not everyone was back up and running until 7:53, Thursday night.
