A Golden, Oklahoma man has recently been arrested on an outstanding warrant for two counts of burglary.

48-year-old David Ray Vaughn was picked up by Elk City police on July 8 after being charged on the same day for the two felonies.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Elk City Detectives pieced together enough evidence over time to possibly link Vaughn to a burglary on May 21, 2016 in the 100 block of Griswold Swann.

While sharing incidents about two separate crimes, two Elk City detectives were able to identify clothing and distinct tracks on the ground that led to Vaughn’s arrest.

The court document says investigators observed a cut chain on a gate where a go-cart frame was stolen and ATV tracks were found leading into the area. Video surveillance on the night of the burglary showed two subjects moving tires on some adjacent property.  Three of four tires and rims were reported stolen that night as was a Honda generator.  One of the subjects appeared to be wearing a camouflage, hooded jacket while the other one had on a lighter color jacket who was also wearing gloves.

After the two investigators shared evidence, police contacted Vaughn at his home where a camouflage, hooded jacket was found. Similar tread from a pair of boots matched the tracks left in the ground and one of the men interviewed had an ATV vehicle that had been impounded from another alleged crime that had happened about the same time.  Tire tracks from the scene matched the tread of the tires on the ATV.

Vaughn bonded out of jail on the same day he was arrested and is scheduled for a preliminary hearing in district court on September 27.
