Texas Troopers have made a sizeable drug bust along Interstate 40.

Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers seized over 71 pounds of marijuana yesterday, Sunday, after a trooper stopped a Missouri man in Carson County.

Around 11 am, a trooper stopped a 2016 Toyota Camry traveling east on the interstate for a traffic violation. A DPS canine unit was called to the scene and the animal alerted on the vehicle for possible illegal narcotics.  The trooper allegedly discovered several vacuum-sealed packages of marijuana inside the trunk with an estimated street value of $434-thousand dollars.

The driver, 53-year-old Joe Bleckwenn of Neosho, Missouri was arrested and charged with felony possession of marijuana. He was transported and booked into the Carson County Jail.

Investigators believe the drugs were being transported from Nevada, through Texas and Oklahoma to Missouri.
